Save the Date: GRECC Connect Case Conference - Behavioral Management for Insomnia

Please save the date for the GRECC Connect Geriatric Case Conference Series scheduled on Friday August 4th, 2017, from 12-1PM EST. The session will focus on Behavioral Management for Insomnia. Free CEUs will be available to registered participants.

PLEASE NOTE: To accommodate colleagues in different time zones, an ENCORE presentation will be held from 12-1PM PST (3-4 pm EST).  Please register for the time slot most convenient for you!!!

In order to capture the attendance and provide CEUs to participants, please complete your TMS registration by Thursday, August 3rd .

GRECC CBOC Behavioral Management for Insomnia

VA employees may receive CEU credit through the talent management system (TMS) by pre-registering using, attending and completing the evaluation posted in TMS using the link above.

When a participant clicks on the TMS Registration Link, they will be taken to the TMS Login page. After logging in they will see the Item Detail page for the item that they wish to register.  On the right side of the page there are 3 buttons: “Add to Learning Plan”, “Start Course” and “Register Now”. All they need to do is click on the “Register Now” button. (They should not click on “Add to Learning Plan”. This will add the training to their To-Do List, but it does not register them for the training.)

After clicking on the “Register Now” button a list of the dates, time and locations for the scheduled offering will appear. They can choose the one that works best for them by clicking on the “Register Now” button to the right of that offering. On the next page they click on the “Confirm” button on the upper right side of the page. This will add the training to their To-Do List and they will receive an email confirmation from TMS.

Program Description:
Sleep concerns is a common complaint by older patients and has profound effects on health, cognition, and quality of life.  This program will review the changes of normal aging related to sleep, identify common sleep disorders, and outline a process for obtaining a sleep history.  The risks of pharmacologic interventions for treatment of insomnia will  be discussed and the benefits of behavioral interventions and sleep hygiene will be highlighted.
